Application Requirements

Applicants for the Master Programme will be admitted, if they meet the enrollment criteria stated in the Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (BbgHG, Brandenburg University Act) or an equivalent regulation of a partner university.

Applicants are entitled to admission if they hold a qualified Bachelor or Arts (B.A.) degree or a qualified degree from a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in cultural sciences or other study areas relevant to the World Heritage Studies programme. The board of examiners decides on eligibility.

Candidates should also have working experience relevant to the programme.

                                            

Language

Courses will be taught in English. Applicants must have good command of the English language and must be prepared to learn German. Proof is provided by a TOEFL with a minimum of 79 points (internet-based), 213 points (computer-based) or 550 points (paper- based) or, alternatively the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (min. grade B), the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (min. grade B) or the IELTS (min. 6.5). Exempted from this regulation are only students whose mother tongue is English and students from countries in which English is the official language. Students who completed a degree in which the language of teaching was English may still have to provide certificate of proficiency in English.

German and English language courses will be offered during the semester.

- a concise curriculum vitae
- diploma of your higher education entrance qualification (High School Diploma, A -Levels, Abitur, etc.)
- diploma of your Bachelor of Arts degree (preferably in Cultural Sciences or in a study area relevant to the World Heritage Studies programme)
- transcript of records
- certificate or proficiency in English (TOEFL: minimum score of 213 points/ computer-based, 79 points/ internet-based, 550 points/ paper-based, IELTS: minimum score of 6.5, Cambridge Advanced English Test: minimum grade B, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency Test: minimum grade B. Excepted from this requirement are only students whose mother tongue is English and students from countries where English is the official language. 
- two letters of recommendation from professors or employers
- a letter of motivation

Please send only certified copies of your documents. In case your documents are not in German or English, you have to provide certified English or German translations from a sworn translator.

Your application will not be processed if your documents are not certified or are incomplete. Only transcripts of records from your home university and English certificates can be sent separately. If these documents are sent separately, you must mention this in your application, otherwise your documents will be sent back as incomplete.
