Nationwide call for proposals for the Dr. Meyer-Struckmann-Science prize of the Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus 2011

Aims and content
The Brandenburg Technical University Cottbus (BTU) announces in 2011 and the following years the Dr. Meyer-Struckmann-Science prize of the BTU endowed by the Foundation Dr. Meyer-Struckmann.

The submitted proposals should be related to the main themes of research at the BTU:

       - Regional change and landscape development

       - Lightweight construction and functional materials

       - Conversion, transmission and use of energy

       - Automobile and propulsion systems

       - Information technology and communication

       - Modelling and simulation

  The cross -sectional area

       - Technical and social phenomena – the human being, environment  and 
         society

Endowment
The prize is 15.000 Euro and can be shared.

Group of participants
Scientists and researcher from all nationalities can be proposed. There is no age limit. The young scientists are given preference. It is not possible to award the prize to BTU staff members. Self-nomination will not be accepted.

All leading university scientists in Germany are entitled to submit proposals as well as those from institutions such as Fraunhofer Society, Max-Planck Society, Helmholtz Community, Leibnitz Community and the Academy of Science.

Criteria
For the selection of the merit of the laureates practical application of their scientific work is especially important.

The scientific merit should show its relevance for fundamental research and practical application. The results must be up-to-date.

Practical information

Deadline for submission: 3rd February 2012

Proposals submitted after this deadline can only be accepted in exceptional cases.This is being decided by the jury. Legal recourse is excluded.

The proposals should comprise a CV and a drafting of an expert’s report on the scientific performance of the candidate.

The 3 to 5 most important publications of the candidate should be enclosed as reprints. A special confirmation of receipt will not be given. After finishing the selection process all submitted documents will be sent automatically back to the sender.

The nomination of the laureate happens up till April 2012, and the award ceremony takes place at the middle of June 2012 at BTU Cottbus.
