ROLAND BERGER FOUNDER’S PRIZE OF BTU COTTBUS 2011

Aim of the prize

The Roland Berger Founder’s Prize of the BTU Cottbus is sponsored by the Roland Berger foundation and awarded annually by the BTU Cottbus to innovative companies which have been founded by former or current students or staff members of the BTU Cottbus. An impartial jury from the sciences and practice fields presides over the award.

Participants

Companies can participate that were founded by persons who are or were students or staff members of the BTU Cottbus and whose exmatriculation dates back no longer than 5 years.

Firms that have been founded by jury members are excluded.

Application documents

The firm should be presented in form of a business plan on a maximum of 10 pages. The company (branch, legal form, organisation, staff, sales development), the underlying business idea, the special features of the products or services under technical and market aspects, competitive standing and perspectives of the business should be presented in detail.

The application documents should include a detailed application form. It can be downloaded as a PDF file on the internet page.

The jury reserves the right to clarify details directly with the applicants.
All submitted application documents will be given as a copy to the jury members and will be kept on record.

There is no limitation to certain branches.

Liability, costs, shipment

The documents sent will be handled carefully. There is no liability for loss, unauthorized use or damage. To keep the risk level as low as possible the documents should be sent only by registered mail with sufficient postage, and should not contain originals.
 
Dates

The application can only be accepted, if all documents have been received by 28th October 2011. Documents submitted after the deadline can be accepted for the Founder’s Prize of this year only in exceptional cases.

The jury will contact the applicants if details must be clarified.

Jury

The honorary jurors are appointed by the president of the BTU Cottbus after clearance with the Roland Berger Strategy Consultants GmbH.

The members fulfill the role of autonomous experts and work and report with the utmost discretion. The meetings and sessions of the jury are closed to the public.

Rating criteria
 
A prize is awarded to firms which perform successfully on the market with innovative products or services.

For the selection of the laureate the following important criteria are decisive:

  • the microeconomic capacity

     

    coherency of the conceptthe economic relevance on a regional levelthe level of innovation of products or services

     

     

    Implementation

    Complete applications submitted within the deadline are presented to the jury for assessment. If necessary, external evaluators can be engaged. The decision will be published. Legal recourse is excluded.

    The jury can request applicants to present their business themselves. The date will be announced in time.

    Endowment

    The Roland Berger Founder’s Prize of BTU Cottbus is 3.000 €.
     
    There is no legal title on bestowal of the prize. The laureate receives a certificate.
     
    Award

    The award takes place in the framework of the annual award ceremony of the Dr. Meyer-Struckmann Science Prize of BTU Cottbus at the beginning of the next year. This is an opportunity for the laureate to present himself to an audience of representatives of the scientific, economic, political and media communities.
