CEBra Research introduces itself

The Centre for Energy Technology Brandenburg – CEBra Research – is a central academic research establishment at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus (BTU), which studies the questions of energy technology on a multidisciplinary basis with the involvement of various faculties. The main research topics are the integrated concepts for electricity and heat supply in East Germany.

A secure, cost effective and environmentally friendly energy supply is the backbone of every modern national economy. Without an efficient, state-of-the-art energy supply it is not possible to guarantee long-term growth, employment and prosperity. Therefore in the “energy state” of Brandenburg research in the field of energy and the development of energy technologies has always been a priority. CEBra concentrates the opportunities of the region in order to cope with numerous upcoming research tasks in the energy field, as, for example, CO2 separation and storage or the utilisation of renewable energies and their network integration.

The research activities at CEBra Research are focused on the energy technology. In total CEBra-Research coordinates all research and teaching activities of 13 chairs and two guest professorships as well as three professorships of honour at BTU in the field of energy technology. This represents a potential of 120 co-workers at these chairs. Nevertheless, it has to be stated here that the research and teaching activities are not exclusively related to the field of energy technology in each of the cooperating chairs. However, the common guiding idea is the development of integrated and innovative solutions for the East German heat and electricity supply and their consequent application in industry.

Furthermore, CEBra Research is active in the education of younger generation. Significance of energy supply for a national economy and technical knowledge on conventional and renewable energies is transmitted through contemplations on a day to day usage of energy.

Besides CEBra Research also CEBra e.V. as well as CEBra GmbH are working at energy themes.
