Certification Authority at the BTU
The University Computing and Communications Services runs a Certification Authority to issue x509 certificates.
The work of this CA (CA = Certification Authority) is structured as follows:
- 1. BTU Root CA
Announcement: Since April 2010 the BTU Root CA won't issue any new certificates anymore. Already issued certificates may be used as long they are valid.
New certifcates will be issued by the BTU CA Global only (i.e. DFN-PKI).
- 2. BTU CA Global: The BTU-CA takes part in the
DFN-PKI (the Public Key Infrastructure of the German Research Network) with the security level "Global".
Main application areas: server certificates, certificates for students and employees (digital signature for email, WLAN and VPN access).
