Studiengang Physik / Doppel-Bachelor
Two for the price of one: A Double Bachelor in Physics
Under the auspices of programmes sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), starting with the winter semester 2007/2008, students can obtain a Bachelor of Science in Physics from BTU Cottbus, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering from the TU Poznań in just seven semesters. Students are required to spend two semesters at the TU Poznan in the context of their Bachelor studies; language courses are offered at the BTU to prepare students for their stay in Poznan.
The Double Bachelor Degree offers students a number of additional qualifications in terms of career possibilities. In addition to academic aspects, they learn language and intercultural competencies, which are an invaluable advantage on the job market.
The Double Bachelor Degree in Physics is currently available from the BTU Cottbus and TU Poznań only.
Studying at the BTU Cottbus
Established in 1991, the Brandenburg University of Technology offers first-rate study conditions in new buildings and with state-of-the-art facilities. Approximately 5,000 students are enrolled here, 1,200 of them are international students, together they have access to more than 20 academic programmes at the BTU. Our ‘campus of human dimensions’ is located close to the city centre. Inexpensive and modern student dormitories are located centrally on campus and are equipped with Internet connections.
The teacher-student ratio in physics is excellent and comparable to top American universities. Students have close contacts with their professors and teaching staff, which assures an excellent learning atmosphere and helps students to advance quickly.
Studying at the TU Poznań
Poznań is one of Poland’s oldest cities with 570,000 inhabitants, it is one of the country’s most important cultural centres. From Cottbus, Poznań can be easily reached by train in approximately 3 ½ hours. The TU Poznań was founded 80 years ago; today it has around 14,000 students and is one of Poland’s most renowned teaching and research institutes in the engineering sciences. Since 1995, the TU Poznań has been a member of the association 'CAESAR' (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research) – a guarantee that its academic courses meet the highest European standards.
In the context of the Double Bachelor Programme in Physics, the BTU Cottbus cooperates closely with the Faculty of Technical Physics of the TU Poznań. Among other things, this school focuses on training and research in the fields of functional materials and nano-engineering, both cutting-edge technologies.
