Biography
Mario Kupnik received the Diplom Ingenieur degree from Graz University of Technology, Austria, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree from University of Leoben, Austria, in 2004.
Since March 2011 he is a Full Professor (tenured) of electrical engineering at Brandenburg University of Technology, Cottbus, Germany.
From 2005-2011 he was working as a Postdoctoral Researcher, Research Associate and Senior Research Scientist in the group from Prof. Khuri-Yakub at the Edward L. Ginzton Laboratory, Stanford University, USA. Before his Ph.D. studies (2000-2004), he has been with Infineon Technologies AG, Graz, Austria, working as an Analog Design Engineer in the field of ferroelectric memories and contactless smart card systems (RFID).
He has authored and co-authored 70+ publications and has been principal inventor and co-inventor of 10 US and international issued patents, relating to analog front-end circuits for contactless smart card systems, ultrasonic transit-time gas flowmeters, CMUT fabrication techniques and modeling, high-temperature ultrasound transducers, and bio/chemical sensors.
Dr. Kupnik won several research awards for his doctoral thesis, e.g. the 2004 Fred-Margulies Award of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and serves on the technical program committee of the IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium since 2007.
