Student Mobility Arrangements within the programme

Because the first 2 semesters of the programme will ensure comprehensive basic education in power engineering at the graduate level the lectures have to be precisely coordinated. The third and fourth semesters are designed to offer individual options for the students. The outgoing mobility will include an exchange semester in the 3rd semester at one the cooperating universities within the global network of CEBra – Center of Energy Technology Brandenburg at BTU Cottbus. The actual list of possible exchanges can be requested from the programme administrator. The final master thesis in the fourth semester can be carried out externally, i.e., supervised by one of the cooperating industrial enterprises. The preparation of an external master thesis often can be combined with an industrial internship in the same company. Both together will cover a period of time of approx. 6 months and will offer students the opportunity of spending the final semester in industry, with the added possibilities of launching their industrial careers in that company.

For the Masters programme ‘Power Engineering‘, each student has to prepare his or her own specific plan of study by the end of the first semester. A mentoring group will assist the students in preparing their plans.

ECTS standards will be employed to facilitate the transfer of credits accumulated during the semesters abroad.  Modules from the list of harmonized subjects, which are completed abroad, will be accepted and recognized according to the ECTS system. English, with occasional exceptions, will be the language of instruction for lectures and tutorials chosen from the list of harmonized subjects. Upon arrival at the cooperating universities or industrial enterprises, all students are assigned a personal mentor who will supervise their academic progress and individual needs.
