Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in our PhD programme Environmental and Resource Management.

The PhD programme aims at students with a qualified Master degree (M.Sc.) or German University Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Economics, Environmental Management or related subjects.

There is no application deadline which you have to keep in mind but we do take in applications at all times. As soon as you have all necessary documents ready you should hand in your complete application.

Before you send your application please read carefully through the  PhD FAQ. Please consider the provided information as they may help you to hand in a complete application and therefore ensure a faster processing of your documents. Please consider especially the information about the PhD proposal as we can only accept detailed proposals, containing all relevant information.

The following documents have to be included in your application package:

•  PhD application form
• Two passport sized photographs
• Curriculum Vitae
• PhD proposal
• Officially certified copies of school and university leaving certificates (Include all certificates related to your education, e.g. High school leaving certificate, Master of Science certificate , Bachelor of Science/Arts certificate, University or FH Diploma)
• Officially certified copies of transcripts of records (M.Sc. and B.Sc. / Diploma)
• Summary of Bachelor and/or Master thesis
• Two recommendation letters
• Certificate of English Language Proficiency
• Sworn declaration about any earlier applications to get permission to the final examination for a doctoral degree and the outcome
• Declaration whether more than one application to get permission to the final examination for a doctoral degree was unsuccessful or was cancelled because of an attempt to deceive or a doctoral degree was disqualified because of attempt to deceive.

We would appreciate if you can provide some additional information/certificates about your knowledge of German and possible socio-political or cultural engagements, confirmations about working experiences and or scientific publications. These activities and knowledge will help to gain additional points in the evaluation process.

Please send only officially certified copies. We only accept certifications from the German Embassy or other consular authorities, the issuing authority or a commissioner of oaths. In case your documents are not in German or English, you have to provide certified translations from a sworn interpreter.

Please note, that we do not accept digital applications.

Your application will be processed right after we received all required documents. We will especially evaluate the suitability of your former studies for our programme in Environmental and Resource Management and your PhD proposal. Before a professor is looking through your proposal and documents you need to send your complete application.
