Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Process Engineering
When the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Process Engineering was opened in 1991, it marked the first time engineering, natural and economic sciences and humanities faculties were merged into one unit at a German university. The aim of the foundational concept was to use an interdisciplinary approach as a means of contributing to the analysis of environmental problems, and to the preservation and improvement of natural resources in the region and beyond. The interdisciplinary composition of the Faculty means that it is ideally equipped to develop a range of courses with wide background knowlwdge of the environmental sciences, research-oriented specialist fields and services for other faculties in which environmental issues play a role.
