General Information
Environmental and Resource Management is an application-oriented Master programme. It is conceived as a consecutive study and is meant to complement the BTU's Environmental and Resource Management Bachelor programme and to further qualify graduates of other relevant Bachelor programmes. Holder of a Master degree in this course are eligible to enter a German doctorate or PhD programme.
The Master programme is committed to the goal of internationality and interdisciplinarity. Internationality means English as the language of instruction, recognition of an academic semester abroad, as well as the quality of the module subjects. Interdisciplinarity is achieved by combining core subjects in natural sciences, technology, socio-economics, and management into one integrated curriculum.
The programme broadens and deepens undergraduate knowledge and management skills in the focus area of integrative environmental and resource protection. Graduates are able to assess and monitor technological, economic and infrastructure determining processes with a view to ensuring sustainable production, planning, and material flow management.
In addition to broadening their expertise, students can also acquire a number of other skills, e.g. independently confront and shape technical challenges, define and organise work flows in order to achieve practical solutions and to promote teamwork. Preparing research projects and authoring a Master' Thesis are excellent tools for students to learn how to successfully handle scientific, technical, and work organisation issues. In addition to acquiring knowledge in their specific scientific fields, students are also exposed to and learn foreign languages, they address intercultural issues, while learning openness, teamwork, and the ability to independently solve problems.
