|
| Language of Teaching: | English |
| Duration: | 1 semester |
| Frequency of Offer: | Every summer semester |
| Credits: | 6 |
| Learning Outcome: | Fundamentals and application of the following methods: - hazard identification, - evaluation of probability and consequence of failures, - qualitative and quantitative risk assessment, - safety related plant optimization (e.g. extension of inherent safety) |
| Contents: | - hazard identification methods (e.g. Checklists, FMEA, HAZOP) - probability evaluation methods (event tree, fault tree) - consequence evaluation methods (e.g. one- and two phase flow (critical, sub-critical), dispersion of neutral and dense gas, fire, explosion and toxic hazards) - qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods (e.g. DOW F&E –Index), - safety related plant optimization (especially extension of inherent safety) - safety related plant optimization (e.g. design of pressure relief systems, process control systems, extension of inherent safety) Exercise: application of simulation tools (one- and two phase release, dispersion and neutral and dense gas, e.g. Aspen Dynamics, VDI) realization of safety and risk studies (method, case study) |
