The Megacity Research Project TP. Ho Chi Minh - Integrative Urban and Environmental Planning - Adaptation to Climate Change has organized the Conference 

Megacity Research Dialogue Ho Chi Minh City: Planning for a Changing Climate

in cooperation with the Center of Water Management and Climate Change, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research. Main focus of this conference was to present main findings and recommendations for integrative urban and environmental planning that were elaborated within the scope of the project during the past years, such as sustainable strategies for climate-oriented urban structures, energy-efficient housing typologies and comprehensive environmental protection.

The event was held on 12 December 2012 at the Guesthouse of the National Assembly, 165 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Avenue, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

Handbook on Climate Change Adapted Urban Planning & Design for Ho Chi Minh City/ Vietnam published

The main approach of the guidebook is the downscaling of general HCMC-related climate change adaptation strategies into specificclimate change adapted urban planning and urban design guidelines through different components of climate change such as urban heat, surface water, flood risk and urban mobility. Solutions are specified, based on local spatial and economical characteristics.

Handbook for Green Products is published

The Handbook for Green Products provides information in an accessible format about technical and constructive products solutions and services for climate-adapted and energy-efficient commercial and residential buildings in Vietnam. It gives Vietnamese small- and medium-sized companies in particular a unique chance to explain the general relevance of their innovative products and their specific relevance for Vietnam in a consumer-friendly way.
The most important local cooperation partner regarding funding support and dissemination is the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.

The Handbook for Green Housing is the result of the working group on  climate-adapted housing and energy-efficient buildings within the Megacity Research Project TP. Ho Chi Minh funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research as part of special research initiative “Future MegaCities – MegaCities for Tomorrow”.
