Public German University Sports Society

With Public German University Sports Society (adh) everything is possible. The governing body of currently 142 institutions offers sport and travel enthusiasts an opportunity to participate through “Camp Pool” in travel activities of adh-member universities. Many universities also offer in their course and travel program places for guests from other high schools. Thus those who study in Flensburg can with a bit of luck take part in leisure skiing through a university in South Germany. Alternatively students from München may want to feel the wind of the Baltic sea on their faces in summer. One has to find the Camp Pool on adh homepage at www.adh.de There you will also find the central International Winter Camp offered by adh which is a meeting point for students of all over the world. Through common leisure sports activities and self-organized everyday life in the Camp the participants learn personal stories of life and studies of their fellow students from other nations. The sun, snow fun and a good team spirit are guaranteed due to Kleinwalsertal, the place where the Camp is situated, adh students support team and already legendary international cooking and party nights. For interested participants the Camp also offers skiing lessons.

You will also get additional information at your university sport office. From adh fliers displayed there you can find information on the further adh events, e.g. students orientation workshops, specific sports advanced training or seminars dedicated to health, fitness, female sports, ecology or integration sport. You can learn about educational programs on adh-homepage (www.adh.de) under the heading "mehr wissen/besser leben".

Competitive sports
The adh coordinates over 60 kinds of competitive sports with a special student communication style. Adh sports offers vary from the most popular ball sport games to classical sport disciplines like for example track and field athletics, fencing, gymnastics or rowing as well as trend sports like mountain bike, snowboarding and ultimate frisbee. Besides that the sports practice includes orientation on and participation in comparison between countries, World Championships and Student Games. You can learn about competitive activities and register for the event at your university sports facility and on adh-homepage under the heading "höher/schneller/weiter".

In 1998 adh celebrated its 50th Anniversary. It was founded 02 April 1948 by student sport consultants on the model of Switzerland as an entirely student sports society. In 1972 in order to develop and secure the increased range of university sport offers, a participative parity management consisting of students and full-time sport specialists was established. Since 1976 the University sport has been ranked as a high school promotion task in University Framework Law.
